end::it’s in the subtext

um, um, lots happening. i had to turn in my nice huge laptop from work, and going from a 17″ widescreen nvidia geforce dual 2ghz beast to this one, 14″ fullscreen 1.7ghz single processor with a generic intel graphics card (which means i can’t play oblivion on it D=) is tough. i miss my dvd burner and sd port as well. still, this is a pretty nice computer, and a whole lot easier on the back and shoulders to lug around, for sure.

last night was pretty cool, a swimming-pool-baptism service, amazingly cool, and then games at the park. we played capture the flag and ultimate frisbee, two of my favorite games, but in wet grass with worn-out chucks in low light with only one working eye — i was a bit disappointed with how i played. it was still loads of fun, and i’m pretty sure that’s the first time i’ve been tackled during capture the flag, by someone i had just tagged out, no less. i dropped a lot of stupid easy catches in frisbee, and while i still had some nice precision throwing, the low dusk light was so bad that we couldn’t capitalize on much of anything. i almost hit a couple of kids in the face before they even realized i was throwing to them, it was so bad.

and more to think about, i guess. i’m listening to old saves the day albums — he’s such a clever lyricist, this stuff never gets old. i heard from another old good friend today, too, who i haven’t heard from in a while. sort of half circumstancial disappearance, half falling out, half just plain weariness and apathy. sad any way you look at it.

i don’t think it’s possible to go through life without wondering what might have been…

just thinking too much. time and people and events and opportunities that are long gone. i saw an old friend sign into aim for a brief second, long enough for me to notice but not long enough for me to even say hi… it got me thinking, where are all the people i knew? old best friends i haven’t talked to in years. it’s sad .. yet still things are always new and exciting and there are more people around, to acquaint and experience and to leave fingerprints on — even if years down the road they forget i existed at all, i hope i took advantage of the opportunities i had to leave a positive imprint. people are affected by people.

that was possibly the worst rambly paragraph i have ever written. i like it.

end::not today and not forever

i have fallen into the habit of taking a nap every night after i get home from work. especially long, busy (admittedly interesting) days like this one. i’m awake now, obviously. and i’m going to sleep again soon. i wish i didn’t have to work tomorrow.

i feel like dancing.

i need to find better batteries. my laptop almost died today, then the battery on my camera ran out. it sucked.

i got a bunch of cool pictures, though. so it’s all good.

waiting. today i did a lot of .. waiting. waiting for the electrical contractors to finish the wiring they started yesterday. they never showed up. waiting for the phone system company to come in and configure our new lines. they never showed up. waiting for a printer, a fax machine, and 7 serial port pci cards to arrive. they never showed up. i got other stuff done, but it’s safe to say that today was not nearly as productive as i had thought it was going to be.

the drivein last night was fun. poseidon was a really cool conecpt for a movie, with some good parts and decent plot background, but still kind of lame in a hollywood cheesily predictable sort of way. the da vinci code was very well done, but there’s so much factually wrong with that movie that made it hard to watch. i guess, just remember that the movie is just a movie. it was fun just to go and hang with friends, even though we ended up parked in a couple different spots.

i like nice weather.
