not like i’ve ever had a particularly normal sleep schedule, but lately i’ve just been completely wacky. sunday slept most of the morning in the car ride back from illinois, then was up for the rest of the trip. got home around 3, went to sleep at 5, got up at 830 for work, got home at 7, fell asleep until 230 tuesday morning, got up for work again, got home at 6, fell asleep until midnight (right now). now i’ll be up until 4 or 5, sleep until 8 or so, and try to stay up long enough tomorrow for a “normal” night’s sleep. we’ll see.

aanyway, cornerstone. too much stuff to fit into one entry, but i’m gonna try anyway. i got bored and dyed my hair blue-black. it looks black mostly, with a bluish sort of “comic book shimmer.” then again, i don’t have to look at it all day. i met lots of awesome people, like i always do, and spent more time i think hanging with them than with the people i came with (like i usually end up doing as well). i hate how i’m older than i look, and everyone else is younger than they look. so many good bands. i’m not crazy over the way cornerstone is going more and more toward the hardcore end .. i like that music once in a while, but a full week of screaming can start to grate on you after a while. i still had a great time and found a good number of new bands that i really like.

i got sad thinking about all the melodic “new school” punk bands that i love and that have disappeared … all wound up, don’t look down, slick shoes, the smiley kids, hangnail, noggin toboggan, the dingees, value pac — the list goes on. only the bigger, pop-punk bands, mxpx and relient k, are left, and then the whole old school punk scene (headnoise, the last hope, etc). and don’t forget poor old ska. oh well.

    cornerstone rocks. as always.

the hardcore bands have been taking over, which are cool sometimes, but i’ve been having fun finding some more melodic bands floating around, and a few i already know.

i am sore. today was church, then an awesome ultimate frisbee game, then my little buddy’s graduation party, which meant more frisbee and football and other cool stuff. also lots of people, which is always cool. i got kind of beat up; i ran over a rock and gashed my big toe open, which wasn’t really painful until i was trying to clean it out after it happened. something about peeling back the thick layers of skin on the bottom of your foot to dig out ground-in dirt is a little bit bothersome. then when i finally got home to use some peroxide on it, yowch. i got a nice charley horse from a knee to the thigh and all scraped up from shirtless diving into prickly crabgrass. by the end of the night i was gimpily hobbling around, completely sore, and i was throwing horribly all day, frisbee and football. i wasn’t even making many great catches or defensive plays, mostly because i was more worried about my footing and finding another sharp rock, or running headlong right into a tree or the river, than with whatever the game at hand happened to be.

it was okay, though, because a lot of other people were playing really well. shown up by a bunch of canadians, how sad.

at work, i use a computer. to get on my computer, i need a password. the system is set up so that i have to change my password every 45 days. today, when i logged in, i got a message saying my password would expire in two days. two days from friday is sunday, which would mean that when i go back to work on monday, i wouldn’t be able to use my password. and, since i’m also the guy who resets someone else’s password when that happens, that’s not a good thing to have happen. so, i had to go and change it.

the password have to include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number. to be quite honest, i liked the password i had, but it also won’t allow me to just change it and change it back to the same thing. in fact, i happen to know that it stores your previous 13 passwords (why they picked 13 i have no idea) and won’t allow you to use any of those over again.

so, i just changed my password 14 times, and then changed it back to the same one i’ve been using.

this was a reflex snapshot i pulled off when a certain pastor i know was thrown into his in-laws’ pool. my timing was pretty good, actually — but my aim apparently was not.

tonight was cool. a little party thing to honor the former youth pastor who served for eight years, all of which i was glad to be a part of, and i can’t wait to see what new things are in store. watched a little movie, had a little food, played a little table tennis. i guess it was just a little night. my parner was a girl i don’t know very well, but she actually was pretty good. i’m glad we eventually lost a game, though, because then it was time to go play ultimate frisbee. this week, it was lighter out than when we started last week, which meant more big throws and big plays, just like the game is supposed to be played. and man, i was feeling good, with good handful of diving catches and perfect throws, some were dropped, whatever, but more than that i wasn’t making too many mistakes. not like anyone cares, but seriously — it felt good out there tonight. my whole team was playing well together, even when i wasn’t directly involved in the play, which was even better. needless to say, if i’m in the zone and the rest of my team is playing well, we won, by a comfortable margin. i’d like to make a weekly game of it, maybe instead of night when dusk comes all too quickly, we could play like sunday afternoons, which is when we used to play football every week. yeah, that would pretty much rock.

so, other than that excitement, work has been keeping me running. monday, i worked until 630, got home at 7, and fell asleep shortly thereafter. i woke up without an alarm at 2 in the morning, fell back asleep, woke up again a little before 7, set my alarm, went to sleep, and got up for work at 8 tuesday morning. tuesday, worked until 630, got home at 7, fell asleep, woke up without an alarm at 2, went back to sleep, woke up at 7 without an alarm, set my alarm for 8, went back to sleep, and got up this morning at 8 for work. got out of work at 6 and went straight to the party thing.

i guess tonight was a much-needed change of pace.
